Why is there a problem with the fastness of nylon fabric? In fact, the fastness of nylon fabric printing is affected by many factors such as the type of nylon fabric. Therefore, in the study of the fastness of waterproof nylon fabric, it is necessary to analyze the printing adaptability of different materials, select the most suitable ink and other materials, and pay attention to the operation technology to ensure the printing effect.

Different from natural fibers, nylon or polyester fibers are all synthetic fibers. Their basic characteristics are very compact molecular structure, little or no water absorption, and the surface feel of fibers is very smooth. Therefore, the pigment printing paste cannot penetrate into the interior of the fiber, but only adheres to the fiber surface of the fabric. Its fastness depends entirely on the adhesion of the adhesive (resin) to the fiber surface and the mechanical properties of the resin film itself. Therefore, the printing fastness of nylon or polyester fabrics is far behind that of natural fibers.

However, in people's real life, the waterproofing and water repellency of fabrics are usually confused. In fact, in dyeing and finishing technology, the two are two different concepts that are both related and different. The so-called water repellency means not touching water. Water on lotus leaves can form rolling water droplets, which indicates that lotus leaves have strong water repellency. If nylon cloth is treated for water repellency, it will have water repellency like lotus leaves. The so-called waterproofness means that it is impermeable to water. For example, a nylon poncho coated with glue on one side cannot be permeable to heavy downpours. If nylon cloth is treated with both waterproof and water repellent finishing, a multifunctional product with water repellent, waterproof, windproof and warm-keeping properties can be obtained. Usually, the printing of waterproof nylon cloth is not printed on the rubberized side, but on the non-rubberized side. Therefore, the water repellency has little or no effect on the printing fastness. It is the water repellency that affects the adhesion of the printing paste to the fiber surface. The greater the water repellency, the greater the impact. In dyeing and finishing, organic silicon compound, which is often used as fabric water repellent finishing agent, is also a kind of release agent for processing transfer printing paper. It is conceivable that the water repellency of printed nylon or polyester cloth has caused much difficulty to its printing fastness. In nylon cloth printing, due to the variety of nylon, some of them are only waterproof, some are only water repellent, some are both waterproof and water repellent, some are neither waterproof nor water repellent. Therefore, before printing, it is necessary to carry out actual identification so as to treat the fabric differently, and to determine the selection of printing paste and technological conditions according to the water repellency of the fabric.
